Watch Out for Sugar
There are certain ingredients in packaged foods that we all need to watch out for. The big kahuna, especially in foods targeted toward children, is sugar. Believe it or not, the average American consumes almost 152 pounds of sugar per year! Talk about a sweet tooth! Too much sugar can increase the risk of obesity, heart disease, Type 2 diabetes, and inflammation. A general rule of thumb is to limit products that list any type of sugar among the first three ingredients.
