Water: The Great Fluoride Debate

There is strong evidence that fluoride helps prevent cavities by protecting and rebuilding tooth enamel. It occurs naturally in fresh drinking water, and some communities add additional fluoride to raise it to levels shown to be protective for our teeth. Unfortunately, too much fluoride is toxic to humans. There is still a debate about how much fluoride is safe in drinking water for all populations, including infants and those with chronic diseases.

For non-fluoridated water, we can install filters that remove fluoride (most don't) or choose non-fluoridated bottled water.
