18 - Strength Training: It’s Not Just for Muscle Heads
It is never too late or too early to improve muscle strength. Improving muscle strength increases bone strength, improves sleep and balance, reduces injury risk, helps regulate blood sugar, and burns calories.
Our children naturally build their muscle strength by using their body weight to move around. In fact, using our own body weight is one of the easiest and safest ways to build strength. From running, jumping, and climbing to push-ups, pull-ups, sit-ups, and lunges, we can build muscle strength anywhere, anytime. The only piece of equipment we need is our body.
